Terms of service
Last updated: October 6, 2026. These terms govern your use of TraceTone at callssource42.com. By using the site you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the site. The provisions are numbered so that anyone can refer to one by its number.
- What the site is. TraceTone is an independent information site about reading phone numbers and incoming calls. It publishes articles and a small number reader that describes the area code of a North American phone number. It is not affiliated with any carrier, government agency, people-search company or call-blocking service, and nothing on it should be taken as coming from one.
- Information only. Everything on the site is general information and education. It is not legal advice, security advice, telecom engineering advice or a professional service of any kind. The reader describes an area code: its region, listed cities, time zone and some warning signs. It does not identify the owner of a number, a carrier, a line type, a location or a reputation, and you should not use it to decide who a caller is.
- Acceptable use. You may use the site for lawful, personal and informational purposes.
- You may not use the site, its tool or its articles to stalk, harass, threaten, locate or surveil another person, to impersonate anyone, or to commit fraud.
- You may not overload the site, probe it for weaknesses, scrape it at a rate that harms other visitors, or interfere with how it works.
- You may not submit false, abusive or unlawful content through the contact form.
- No guarantee of accuracy. We check facts against primary sources and date our pages, but phone rules, carrier features and menus change, and we make mistakes. The information is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty of accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement. We do not promise that the site will be available at all times or free of errors.
- Our content. The text, design and graphics belong to the operator of the site unless noted otherwise. You may quote short passages with a link to the source page. You may not copy substantial portions or republish the site as your own. Names of carriers, apps and agencies are the property of their owners and appear only to refer to them.
- Outside sources and links. The site links to outside sources, such as the FTC, the FCC, the Do Not Call Registry and the help pages of phone makers. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content or practices. A link is not an endorsement.
- Limitation of liability. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operator of TraceTone is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, money, profits or opportunity, arising from your use of the site or from reliance on its content. If you rely on anything here to answer a call, return a call, block a number or report a call, you do so at your own risk. Some places do not allow certain limits on liability, so part of this provision may not apply to you.
- Privacy. How the site handles information is set out in the privacy notice, which forms part of these terms.
- Changes and ending access. We may change these terms or the site at any time and will update the date at the top of this page when we do. Continued use after a change means you accept the new terms. We may restrict access for anyone who breaks these terms or abuses the site.
- Governing law. These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which the operator is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.
- Contact. Questions about these terms can go to [email protected] or through the contact page. See also the disclaimer.
