Contact TraceTone

Write for any of the reasons below. I read every message myself, and corrections get answered first. Pick whichever card fits best, then use the form underneath or write straight to [email protected].

A correction

Name the page, quote the sentence, say what you think it should say, and add a link to a source if you have one. I check it against the original rule or help page and update the date when I fix it.

A question about a result

Tell me the area code (not the full number, if you would rather not), what the reader showed and what puzzled you. For a phone setting, add your phone and its software version, because menus differ.

A privacy request

Say what you want done: a copy of what we hold, a deletion, a correction. Write from the address you used with us so I can match it to a message.

Same address as this form

Anything else

A topic you wish I covered, a number pattern that keeps turning up on your phone, a broken link. Short is fine.

No deadline promised

Before you write

How fast will you reply?

This is a one-person site, so replies usually take a few days and sometimes longer. I will not promise a deadline I cannot keep.

Can you tell me who owns a phone number?

No. Nor can I trace a call, find a person, block numbers on your phone or recover money lost in a scam. For the plan to block and report, see the call history walkthrough.

Where do scams and unwanted calls get reported?

File scams at ReportFraud.ftc.gov, and for unwanted calls to the regulator, use the consumer pages on fcc.gov. If you are in danger, call 911.

What do you keep when I send a message?

Your name, email, topic and text, the time, and a hashed version of your IP address. They are stored in a file and deleted twelve months after I reply, or sooner if you ask. More in the privacy notice.
