Privacy notice

Last updated: October 6, 2026. This notice covers TraceTone at callssource42.com. It is deliberately specific and describes only what is true of the site today. The table comes first because it answers most questions, and the sections after it fill in the details.

What we hold, why, and for how long

WhatWhyHow long
Web-server log entries: your IP address, your browser's user-agent, the page requested, the time and the response codeTo keep the site running, fix errors and spot abuse. Not used to build profiles or to identify visitors.About a week. The logs rotate automatically, usually after five to seven days.
A number you type into the number readerThe server reads the digits during the request and compares the area code with a list of regions to produce the result. It is not written to a database.Because the number travels in the page address, it can appear in the server log, so up to about a week.
A message sent through the contact form: name, email, topic, text, time and a hashed version of your IP addressTo answer you. The hash limits repeat submissions and spam. Your email is used only to reply.Stored in a file and deleted twelve months after we reply, or earlier if you ask.
Accounts, cookies, analytics, advertising, social widgets, third-party scripts or fontsNone of these exist on the site. There is nothing to keep.

Entering a number

The result pages ask search engines not to index them. If you would rather your own number never reached a log line, type the area code followed by placeholder digits such as 555-0100: the region, cities and time zone come from the first three digits alone. The number reader page explains what it can and cannot show.

Cookies and signals

We do not set cookies and we do not run anything that follows you across pages or sites. Your browser may send a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal. Because we do not track you, there is nothing for it to change here.

Who else sees it

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not pass anything to data brokers or advertisers. Our hosting provider operates the servers where logs and form messages are stored. We might disclose information if the law requires it, for instance in response to valid legal process, or where it is needed to protect the site from abuse.

Children

TraceTone is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has sent a message through the contact form, write to [email protected] and we will delete it.

California privacy rights (CCPA and CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you can ask what personal information a business has collected about you, request deletion, ask for corrections, and opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information. We do not sell or share personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of, and we do not treat anyone differently for making a request. To make one, email [email protected] from the address you used to write to us and say what you want. We may need to confirm you are the person concerned. Because we keep so little, the answer will often be that we hold nothing about you beyond a log line that has already expired. The same statement appears under "Do Not Sell or Share" on the disclaimer page.

Security and outside links

We keep stored information small on purpose, since what we do not hold cannot be lost. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, and we cannot promise otherwise. Our articles link to outside sources such as the FTC, the FCC and phone-maker help pages. Those sites have their own practices, and this notice covers only callssource42.com.

Changes

If we change what we collect or how we handle it, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date at the top, and say so in plain words if the change is significant. Questions can go through the contact page or to [email protected].
